Staffing Changes

As you know, Jeff Creswell is retiring from his position as sixth grade teacher. Claire Cofsky, is currently on the same team teaching 4x5, will move to the 6th grade and will teach the sixth grade along with Ned.

Caryn Cushman, from our Kx3 team, will move to the 4x5 position vacated by Claire.

John Walrod, our Kx6 Special Instruction teacher, will be in Caryn's 1st and second grade position, teaming with Avril.

Due to a decrease in enrollment at the high school level, Deanne Larsell's PE position will be half time. Although our enrollment at all grade levels is now up to our projection and goal, it was not at the target level in October when our ADM was calculated. Our PE program was immensely popular and beneficial to our school and we hope to have full time PE again.

Kristen Chrisman, who works in the Kindergarten in the morning and in the library in the afternoon, will not be in the Kindergarten next year. Because MLC has the capability to limit our enrollment we will no longer be able to fund Kristen's position under Fee for Service guidelines. Kristen will continue to be at MLC half-time in our library.

The PPS budget has not been finalized at this time. The state revenue picture continues to change for the worse and there may be additional cuts to the proposed PPS budget. Our school board is expected to approve the PPS budget on June 8th. The PPS web site is a good source of information and is updated frequently. I urge you to contact your legislator to make your feelings known.

Exceptional!

Congratulations to MLC! The State Report Card was released today and we were again rated as "Exceptional." We are one of eighteen school that have rated as "strong" or "exceptional" for the past ten years. A great accomplishment for students, teachers and administration alike.
